Top 10 Hit Songs In 2021.

We’ve witnessed beautiful and entertaining moments in the Nigerian music scene this year, from series of talent breakouts, back to back HIT songs and the unmatched worldwide recognition Afrobeat garnered in the past 365 days.

Here’s a brief breakdown of the top 10 hit songs we feel stood out exceptionally this year;

10.   Mohbad – Feel Good

Marlian Music signee Mohbad has shown a great level of consistency after finishing 2020 strong with a smash hit “KPK” and continued in his blazing form by delivering another strong song of the year contender  “Feel Good” a groovy hit song produced by the talented music producer “Niphkeys”

9. Tiwa Savage & Brandy – Somebody Son

Off her amazing Water & Garri EP, the lead single which features music legend “Brandy” has gone on to be the most outstanding of the five tracks on the body of work.  This particular love song takes a different approach from the normal standard we have become accustomed to for love songs. Regardless of the hurts from previous experiences, Tiwa Savage is still positive that she would find her soulmate. An undeniable masterpiece.

8. Olamide – Rock

Here’s a feel good, calm and groovy track. We love to see how Olamide flexed his versatility and range on this melodious hit single which was also the lead single for his mind blowing project “Uy Scuti”

7. Naira Marley & Bussiwa – Coming

It’s no longer news that Marlian music president Naira marley is well known for his ability to create smash records which he further proved in this street anthem “coming” this song featured guest appearance from South African singer “Busiswa” and was produced by Rexxie. Naira marley, Busiswa & Rexxie understood the assignment.

6. Ayra Starr – Bloody Samaritan

One of the breakout talents we witnessed in 2021 is the 19 year old Ayra starr. She consistently delivered 2 EPs in a space of 7 months and took over with her Afro pop viral hit single “Bloody Samaritan” which also makes her a major frontliner of GEN – Z in the industry.

5. Ladipoe & Buju – Feeling

“I like the way i am feeling now 🎤” Ladipoe and Buju teamed up to deliver an extraordinary HIT and a solid song of the year contender. The catchy hooks & chorus from Buju, the top-notch rhymes from Ladipoe, and the smooth chemistry between both artistes to deliver this beauty is highly commendable.

4. Ruger – Bounce

Ruger is another breakout talent we got to witness this year, he made a huge statement with his debut project “Pandemic” a flawless and outstanding body of work. Few months after releasing the project everyone caught up on the “Bounce” wave.

Shout out to d’prince and a big thank you to him for discovering this rare talent.

3. Adekunle Gold & Davido – High

“High” is that jam that makes you feel elated, gingered and get you in the perfect “turn up” mood. What Adekunle Gold & Davido did on this song is unmatched, they delivered us a stunning HIT on a platter of gold, effortlessly. “Watimagbo x5”

2. Lojay & Sarz – Monalisa

Talk about a song that shook everywhere and is still shaking everywhere. “Monalisa” is not just the regular amapaino upbeat music, this is a special &  phenomenal record,  the perfect definition of extraordinary music. “Ma jo monalisannnn… oh sorry, Ma jo monalisa”

1.     Fireboy – Peru

Our number 1 Hit song of 2021  is Fireboy’s “peru” The beat, rhythm, lyrics & production is without any imperfections or  defects, Fireboy & shizzi delivered a timeless hit. “Not all heroes wear capes, some leak music” Massive shout out to olamide for leaking this sensational piece.
