2022 has seen a massive wave of new artists coming on to Nigerian mainstream music, and Boy Spyce is one of them. The music talent has risen fast in the industry, becoming one of the latest signings of Mavin Records. After releasing a cover of “Essence” by Wizkid featuring Tems and releasing a song of his own called “Weather for Two,” he’s back with a banger EP for the whole world to listen and experience.

.

Dreams:
The EP starts off with a heartfelt song written to an old-time friend. Boy Spyce shows his hopeless romantic side in the first song Dreams, with a plethora of melodic sounds that help to express the longing and emotions he feels. The song comes with a beat you can’t help but bop your head to. The love being talked about in the song always seemed doomed to fail, and the song expressed how much hurt he harbored and endured knowing he couldn’t do anything to stop it.

.

The vocals show a lot of adventure and experimenting, and the production is of top-notch quality, which is only natural of Mavin Records. The song is perfect for playlist curators who love melodic tunes that take them back!

.

Bad Things: On Bad Things, Boy Spyce showcases his bad boy persona as he rhymes explicit lyrics over smooth Swinging percussions, and wavy chord progressions. Playlist curators should definitely add this song to their playlist, it is the perfect record for a sexy rendezvous.

.

Wayo: Wayo is a fast paced song that has all the attributes of a conventional club banger. The hook is witty, and oozes self assurance. The chorus is catchy, the kind of catchy music you expect club enthusiasts to sing along with. Overall, Wayo seems like hit material.

.

Nobody: The song begins with such an amazing display of range that would leave you hooked. In this song, he once again expresses how much of a romantic he is, and how much he’s willing to make it work with that special person. The beat helps to buttress the message of the song, as it easily makes you feel happy and upbeat. Easily THE SONG for the romantics.

.

Destiny: The fifth track off the self titled project is easily the standout song from the body of work in terms of lyrical content, as Boy spyce hammers on the importance of hard work in the affairs of divine ordination with lyrics like “Person work hard, you dey call am grace” to buttress his point. The Andre vibez produced track is a feel good jam that will have you lost in the rhythm of the beat, and also get inspired by Boy spyce’s lyrics.

.

Boy Spyce’s debut project is once again a replica of a Mavin masterclass. With this project, he gives a glimpse of what is to come in the nearest future. The boy is a superstar, and this EP suffices. With a myriad of talents out there, boy spyce’s finds a way to be unique in his own niche, excited to see what the future holds for the Mavin new-comer.
