Victony voices out on crucial issues like relationships and mental health with his new album, Outlaw.
.
Apple Music conducted an interview before the release of the album, and he wasn’t afraid to let people know what was on his mind. He expressed his frustration with everyone trying to control what artists do and how to live.
.
“In my position as an artist, many people would want to tell you how to live your life and what to do at different points.”
.
“Everybody has an opinion [regarding] what you should do. And I just want to be myself. But it seems like being yourself, especially in this part of the world, it’s sort of a crime. And I’m like—if being myself is a crime, then I’m an outlaw.”

That said, the first song emphasizes his creative vision behind the album. The reggae beat sounds inspiring, and he doesn’t fail to mention that he’s a champion who will persevere through it all. He also acknowledged his fear of making a wrong move, which can destabilize him.
.
From the second song, Chop and Slide, to the sixth, Soweto, he expresses his bad boy side. How he has learnt to filter out gold diggers, and how a certain someone now makes him happy with her bumbum and cooking. Hmmm Who is on your mind Victony?
.
Personally, I think he could have expressed more of how he’s feeling from the first song, but many of the songs point to his experiences and desires with women.
.
Apollo is the song we’re all familiar with, and it makes a reappearance on the album. The amapiano beat and the smooth progressions makes it a club banger!
.
The young, budding artist talked about mental health on the last song of the album, Kolomental. Victony expressed how he minds his business nowadays, because the problems of the world can be overwhelming sometimes. The song also comes with a low-vibe beat that can easily spark the feeling of longing for simpler times.
.
All in all, Victony’s debut album is a huge success. However, he has so much more to express about what’s going on with him, and how he copes with all the overwhelming problems. We’re excited to see how Victony explores music in order to communicate even better with his fans!
