Buzzing With a talent for rapping melodiously over Hip-Hop/Rap, and Afropop tunes, talented Nigerian rapper, KingJayy (real name: Egodo Jolomi) has all the makings of a rap star. “My surroundings and people’s stories influence my music a lot. Writing, and freestyling has become a part of me. I totally love the process of making music”. These are words of Delta State born artiste, KingJayy.

.

The Twenty-Two year old releases a Seven Track EP Titled “Long Overdue” for his fans, and Music lovers alike. With this debut project, Kingjayy thrives to leave an appealing mark in the industry as one of the New generation’s rappers ready to take the world by storm.

.

Long Overdue is a reflection of the growth he has been able to amass with his sound. KingJayy titles this project “Long Overdue” because this is his first body of work throughout his five years of making music.

.

PRTY STARTED

The E.P kickstarts with “PRTY STARTED”. “I ain’t got time for Chit-Chat, I stay low and face my grind” Kingjayy confidently raps over Heavy Kicks, church bells, choral loops, and enthusiastic ad libs. “PRTY STARTED” is a delve away from conventional Afrobeats, as the Nigerian up and coming rapper explores UK’s Grime.

.

MADNESS

Singer, Kobi Wolf assists Kingjayy on “Madness”. Madness is a mid-tempo Afro-pop song that talks about the lustful desires of a Young man who simply can’t get enough. Kingjayy, and Kobi wolf sonically syncs on this melodious joint.

.

WOWZA

Wowza is a beautiful fusion of Afrobeats, and Trap music. The Rapper calls it “Afro-Trap”. Wowza is a party tune no doubt. The sonic experiment is a delight to the ears. With Wowza, King jayy seems to be aiming for a record that resonates with his locale.

.

4L

4L reminds me of 2014 Travis Scott, the beat is so trippy and gives me goosebumps every time it comes on”. Kingjayy teams up with Producer, Beezy X, and Rapper Lekside Westside on the Trap record.

.

Steeze

“Steeze is that jam”. The song is so relatable because it glorifies fashion and everybody in this generation loves fashion. When someone says “bro look at your Steeze” he/she is complimenting you that you look good and that was one of the influences I had in making the song” Music producer, Ramoni links up with Kingjayy to release an anthem. Collaborator, thePedestrn brings his unique wit to the record.

.

GIDI FLEX

This record was the beginning of the rollout for this project and is also a very relatable song because “Gidi” means Lagos where I live and “Gidi Flex” means Lagos flexing “. Gidi Flex is that one song where a listener really witnesses Kingjayy’s Rap proficiency, he easily dabbles over hard Grime beats.

40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS

This is the last song of the project. I love this song so much because the process of making it was very organic. I pulled up to Slow Zeus’s studio one day because I haven’t seen him in a minute so we spoke a lot and he played this beat his guy just made and I told him I wanted to work on it so brought out my phone and started vibing out. At that point, I was on road 24/7 making sure people know the name KingJayy so I made the hook “40 days 40 nights” showing my nonstop hustle mentality of making music and grinding for that paycheque cause “ streets no get joy” on the hook I say “ Always be working no sleeping” and “ straight to the bag get the cash” and it clearly shows my devotion towards my grind and it shows I’m not ready to slow down. I also put my brother Frazzerthebeast on because we never had a song together and he’s one of the hardest cats in the Abuja scene I know of. “40 days 40 nights” is that hustlers anthem”.
