Rappers like Phyno, Illbliss, Nigga Raw set the pace for young rappers from the East. And we’ve seen various rappers burst out to fame. From the coal city, Enugu State, we spotlight on one of Nigeria’s young rappers who’s out to change the rap scene. Born Ani Jeremiah, on the 6th of May, 1998, an indigenous rapper who flows perfectly in Igbo language known with the stagename JERIQ or Jeriq tha Hussla.

After concluding his secondary school education at college of immaculate conception, CIC, Enugu, he began hustling in the streets and had a totally different street oT, before gaining admission into Enugu State University of Technology, which he recently finished.

In 2015, he made his debut into the music space with his viral single “IYOO”. And in 2018, he sealed a record deal with Janded Music Empire, under where he got to record and drop various songs such as “Last Last” which featured Quincy.

In 2019, he began to attain street credibility through the towns with songs like “Police Matter” “Paper” “Hustle o’clock”. In 2020, he made a big mainstream break with the single “No More Nleka” with fellow Igbo rapper, Zoro. Within the same year, he was able to do so much by dropping his EP “Hood Boy Dream” and he also went ahead to feature ezege, Phyno on the remix of his song “Remember”.

In 2021, the KOD act Jeriq, went on to put out a joint EP “East to West” with DMW rapper, Dremo Drizzy. As a follow up to the joint project, he went on to put out another project, “Billion Dollar Dream” on the 26th of May, 2022. The rap project features acts like Psycho YP, Alpha P, Dremo, Flavor & Kofi Jamar.

Jeriq also made a guest appearance on Dj Neptune’s “Greatness 2.0” album.

Jeriq is not stopping with new works imminent. His most recent work is Wake n Bake with ABJ based rapper, Odumodu Blvck.
