Welcome to another Upper spotlight segment. This week, we shine light on an amazing young talent from Bayelsa state, Nigeria. This gifted up-and comer goes by the stage name, ‘Quires‘. Over the years, the southern part of the country has been reputable to have produced raw talents such as the enigmatic Burna boy, sensational Omah lay, and legendary singer, Timaya, amongst other dapper acts too many to mention in this article.


Born Quiren Doubara Dan Odoko, a talented singer, songwriter, record producer and sound engineer who uses his songs to tell stories and experiences; with core genre being R&B; but proves how versatile he is on afrobeats, and other genres.

Having won various awards within the shores of his state(bayelsa), Quires focus on Gen-z as his target audience. With songs like ‘Ogogoro’, ‘Love is a go’, ‘Moon Lover’ being his previous release.



The baby-faced crooner is back in the music space with his self titled body of work “QUIRES” a four track body of work which is a blend of Afrobeats and R&B that bares the love and lust feeling which he posses for a long term heartthrob. On this project, he showcases his powerful vocals and creates soothing melodies.


The singer’s sound is influenced by the likes of Banky w, Chris brown, August Alsina, Brandy, and Drake which shows where the love for Rhythm & blues comes from. He also describes his sound as emo-themed. The singer believes he is destined for greatness, he believes he can change the world with his music, one song at a time if he puts in the work.
