The Best of the Very Best of New Music Friday

If you are reading this article, It’s rather a tad bit not presumptuous to say that you love good music. You like to cut out the “wheat” from the “shaft” when it comes to how you enjoy music. And we see you!

It is common knowledge that Friday is the special day of the week when artists choose to release new music. By default, it can get tough to decide on the best songs. This is why ‘The Best of the Very Best of New Music Friday’ exists.

Stay glued as we shortlist five of our favorite songs that dropped in the release week of Friday, 19th of April, 2024.

1. Joeboy ft Qing Madi : Adenuga

Everyone’s favorite Lover Boy, Joe Boy is back with another mid-tempo earworm titled ‘Adenuga’. The heart-warming record features fast-rising singer, Qing Madi. ‘Adenuga’ has the vivacious rhythm of a Nigerian hit and the tender wordplay of a soft-pop record. Adenuga is one record deserving of a relisten. Joeboy has done it again!

2. Ayo Maff ft Fireboy Dml

In an unprecedented pairing between talented budding singer Ayo Maff and superstar singer, Fireboy Dml, listeners are driven to the sonic abyss. ‘Dealer’ is an emotional song that hammers its protagonist’s travails. The beautiful song is only made sweeter by Fireboy Dml’s stellar verse.

3. Ladipoe ft Rozzz & Morelo – Hallelujah

Skilled Nigerian rapper, Ladipoe is in his best form on his latest single, ‘ Hallelujah’. Ladipoe collaborates with music artists, Rozzz and Morelo to bring this sonic perfection to life. Over Afro-rhythms and guitar chordal progressions, Ladipoe and his collaborators deliver brilliantly, implementing skill and passion.

4. Body Civilian

‘Head Start’ is written and performed by Emoseh Angela Khamofu, better known as Bloody Civilian. Bloody Civilian produces the enervated track with co-production credits from Ditweni, and Young Willis. Head Start stands out from a plethora of music releases this week. No long talk, listen, and be convinced yourself.

5. Nezsa – Pressure

Nigerian soul singer, Nezsa is astounding in ‘Pressure’. Nezsa’s style is unique, and she maintains her usual timbre in the smooth soul/R&B number. When she choruses ‘Pressure’, it feels like an orgasmic thrill. Nezsa’s sweet vocals are to die for. listen to ‘Pressure’ for a better listening experience.
